From a mild case of nerves to serious anxiety, how we feel has a huge impact on our experiences at the dentist.
Here at IDC, we take a multifaceted approach to supporting you mentally, emotionally and physically. It’s all part of the service.
Here’s a little bit more about how it works for you.
Comfort menu: To support you during your treatment session with a dentist, we offer a menu of carefully curated comforts to nourish, nurture and calm you. Choose from special pillows and blankets, including warm pillows and a weighted blanket, to put you in the most supported position, perhaps noise-cancelling headphones or a sensory toy for children. Comfort options to reduce nerves, anxiety or pain also include herbal remedies, acupuncture or dry needling, or a non-needle alternative and ‘ear seeds’, which adhere to a pressure point. We will talk you through all of these options before your treatment to help you select what works best for you.
Anxiety: Dr Henriette is the best practitioner at IDC to work closely with very phobic patients and soothe their way into treatment. She spends one-on-one time with a patient to identify their anxiety triggers, then devises a solution that might include minimising noises, smells, tastes and other stimuli.
Reiki: If reiki is your choice, our expert practitioner Rosemary can be there with you during your treatment to help calm you at physical and other levels. Rosemary joined IDC last year and is available for Friday appointments.
